Beer 101 is a basic guide to craft beer. You will taste seven different craft beers from New Zealand and around the world. Tasters learn the basics on how great beer is made with the few simple ingredients of malt, hops, yeast and water.

The brewer from North End – Kieran – will come and share his brewing philosophy and talk to us about some of the beers brewing in the new brewery in Waikanae – and maybe some of the barrels he has out there as well!

Meet us at Garage Project brewery for a tour and tasting before we head off to Rogue and Vagabond. After hearing about Wellington’s brewing and bar scene, we stop at Little Beer Quarter for lunch and a pint. After lunch we head to Fork and Brewer brewery to taste some of their ever changing range of beers made on-site. Finally, we head to Goldings Free Dive where we leave you with a beer and some new friends to have a drink with.

All our walking tours include:
- a Craft Beer College host for the entire tour
- all beer tastings
- a proper lunch and pint
- a tasting glass to take home
- two brewery visits
- stops at three of our favourite Wellington bars.

The tours start at 12 noon, and go for 3.5 hours. All this for only $132 per person.

This is what one of our last tour participants emailed us:

“We had a GREAT time on Saturday!!! … It was a fun way to spend our Saturday, we are happy you were able to include us!”

Come join Craft Beer College on Saturday 9 May at Hashigo Zake for our Beast that is Yeast tasting.   The tasting will take you through seven beers that have been influenced by the yeast used in the brewing process.

The tasting will show how yeast influences the aroma and flavour of beer and its importance in the brewing process. It will include beers where the yeast is left to do its work in the bottle, explaining what those chunks are, and where they come from.

The tasting will be joined by a team from Garage Project who sure do interesting things with yeast in their beers.
