Ramen 2: The Noodle Strikes Back

If Hollywood has taught us anything, it's that there are two kinds of sequels. The one's that ruin the original film (Pirate's of the Caribbean 2, Highlander 2) and those that pick up the torch and carry the story forward (Aliens, T2: Judgement Day).

With the success of the last visit from the Ramen shop at Golding's, we just couldn't resist a sequel. So we are pleased to announce this Sunday, the premier of Ramen 2 (Revenge of the Broth).

That's right, Asher Boot and Tsubasa Takahashi will be back from 3:30 pm on Sunday September 1, dispensing their delicious noodles. Head on down for a bowl and a pint!

Baylands Brewing Best Bitter AKA: 4B

After three smash-hit beer releases, Baylands Brewing is back with another new beer. So far they've released a IPA, a Black IPA and a Red Rye IPA. An what do they follow it up with? A White IPA? Purple IPA? Green Polka-Dot IPA?

Nope, it's a Best Bitter. Let it never be said Baylands is a one trick pony.

Baylands Brewing Best Bitter or '4B' will be hitting the handpump at Golding's Free Dive this Wednesday at 5pm. See you down here for a session of sessionability.

After a hectic morning's judging, the Golding's Crew are pleased to announce that The Inaugural Beer Goggles Amateur Photography Exhibition is officially open. And big thank you to all those who took the time to enter. The number and quality of entries far exceeded our expectations. Cheers Beer-Peeps!

Judging this competition has been variously fun, challenging and informative informative. For example: who would've thought he most popular camera used would be the iPhone 4? Or that the most popular photographic subjects would be variously: Beer Bartenders (7 photos), beer at the beach (5 photos) and beer with small plastic dinosaurs (3 photos)? Fascinating.

We've selected our nine finalists which are now festooning our walls and looking fantastic. But it's not over yet. We need your help to choose the People's Choice Award. So come on down during Choice Beer Week, check out the entries and vote for your favourite.

We'll be having an awards ceremony at 3pm this coming Sunday (August 11) to hand out the numerous prizes we've lined up. We encourage you to come down for that too, because to mark the occasion (and to help you over your Beervana-Hangover) we'll be hosting the Ramen Shop. The dynamic duo of Tsubasa Takahashi and Asher Boote will be dispensing their bowls of hot noodley-goodness while we hand out the accolades

Hope to see you down here, and remember: Beer is Love Y'all!

Today we have been open for exactly 3 months and its been awesome. Thanks to all of our friendly customers who enjoy Golding's as much as we like working here. To celebrate this epic milestone we are offering 2 Croucher Pils or Pale pints with any pizza from our menu for $30. Tonight only from 5pm. Come on down!

Brief

We at Golding’s are excited to announce our Choice Beer Week event for 2013: an exhibition of beer photography. But this is no ordinary exhibition of some accomplished snap-happy professional photographer. No, this is an exhibition for the people, by the people. This is the Inaugural Golding's Free Dive Beer Goggles Amateur Photography Competition.

We want you to send us your best beer photographs. We’ll pick our 10 favourites and exhibit them at Golding’s during Choice Beer Week. We encourage you, the punter to come in and view them and vote for your favourite. The winner of the grand prize, the Hop d’Or, will receive a $100 Golding’s Voucher. Other awards are listed below.

Beer is the theme of this competition, but don’t feel limited. Points will be awarded for creativity, playfulness and originality. It could be a photo of a beer, of you drinking a beer, beer in a place, a brewery, beer in a brewery. Use your imagination! In that we don’t want you to feel limited by technology either. When we say amateur, we mean it! From DSLRs, through to smart phones, you can use any camera you want to take you photograph.

Independence Draws Near

This Thursday forth of July marks the 237th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Now at Golding's we make no claim to being American, but as an aspiring Dive Bar, we take a good deal of inspiration from our Continental Cousins.

Whilst the American tradition of celebrating their freedom by blowing up small parts of the countryside hasn't translated so well, the tradition of marking their nationhood with beer makes perfect sense to us.

So come Thursday, we'll be celebrating the Fourth of July with a the nation-wide launch of San Francisco's Speakeasy Brewery's Big Daddy IPA. We'll also have on a few offerings from our favourite Oregon Brewery, Rogue and and for some local flavour, a little Tuatara APA (the American version of course).

We'll also be decorating the bar with red, white and blue and just for a little something extra, breaking out our hotdog stand again - this time to serve some classic American style dogs.

Hope to see you there. And remember: Beer is Love and In Beer We Trust.
