Guten Tag: Tiamana Brewery Launch

Many of you will have heard of the elusive ‘Tiamana Brew’ the Wellington microbrewery with a distinctly Berlin flavour to it. Some of you may even have tied a sneak-peak their beer at the Pacific Beer Expo or Greater Wellington Brew Day.

Tiamana is the project of Berlin Native Annika Naschitzki, who has been building a brewery in central Wellington for the last year. Now it’s time for it to go live.

A range of German inspired beers will be hitting taps at Golding’s Free Dive from 5pm this Saturday. To mark the occasion, we’ll also be serving traditional German delicacies - Currywurst and Gummibaerchen!

Ich freue mich!

Dia Del Los Muertos 2014

It’s that day again: Dia Del los Muertos; Day of the Dead. The day when the spirits of loved ones are said to return and the day we raise our thoughts and our glasses to them. It is of course, also the day that Garage Project releases their infamous duo of Mexican inspired brews to mark the occasion.

Those of you who were in Wellington for Dia Del Los Muertos last year will remember the fiesta Garage Project and the Golding’s team threw, and you be happy to hear this time we are making it even better

This year we’ll be taking over the Hannahs Laneway to make it a proper Mexican street festival! We’ve teamed up with La Boca Loca, the Wellington Chocolate Factory, Scopa Caffe Cucina, Pizza Pomodoro, Red Rabbit Coffee Co., the Egmont St. Eatery, and The Leed Street Bakery to host a whole bunch of pop up food stands. And the Garage will have a pop-up can bar!

But that’s not all.

We’ve also got music from Wellington’s hottest Latin American, Carlos Navae, and Wellington’s prodigal adopted son, Adam Page, who will be helping us get down and festive.

Finally, an important part of Day of the Dead is dressing up, so remember costumes and facepaint, or come down and get your face painted by us!

Celebrations will be starting from 2pm on Saturday November 1st at Golding’s Free Dive. See you then!

See Facebook Event.

Release the Kraken!

Shiver me timbers, shipmates! Wellington's most unique and exciting beer festival, The Pacific Beer Expo has an equally cool party to follow! This year a super-secret, hush-hush, exclusive and piratical beer and music event will be held at the rowing club rooms at 9pm after the final session of PBE on Sunday.

The Golding's Free Crew will pillage the best beers from the festival, and our favourite musical pirates Spitfire featuring Ed Zuccollo and shipmates will be keeping our spirits up on the long voyage.

And speaking of long voyages, the event shall also see the return of Wellington's favourite adopted son, Adam 'The Human Kraken' Page.

Tickets are $30, available over the bar at Golding's. So swab the decks, hoist the sails, throw the cat overboard and get ready to walk the plank, with mad music, mad beer and mad fun!

Give Me Liberty...

...OR GIVE ME DEATH!
- Patrick Henry, 1775.

It’s unlikely that Henry was talking about beer when he said those words, but we shall celebrate them with the beer of another (New Zealand) Revolutionary: Jo Wood of the aptly named Liberty Brewing Co.

On Tuesday October 7th, Liberty will launch a surprise attack on the Golding’s tap line up, which will result in total tap domination. All your favourite Liberty beers will show up in force, supported by a couple of surprise special beers.

Liberty will be supported by Dutch Auxiliary forces, in the Form of the Montfoort Wafel Co. who will bring Bitterballen and Stroopwafels to the fray.

See you at Golding’s!

Election Night at GFD

The rumours are true: Golding's Free Dive will be playing live election-coverage on the big screen on Saturday night. This isn't a party, we're not putting on any special beers, or turning this into a gimmick. We're simply providing a nice spot for you to gather after voting (of course you're enrolled to vote, aren't you?) and watch the results come in.

Nor are we taking part in any partisan politics. We're not here to tell you how to vote (seriously, you are voting, right?) although we won't object if someone makes a Colin Craig effigy that we can use as a punching bag.

We hope to see you down here on Saturday.

North End Saison Launch

There’s a new beer coming from North End! A delicious new Saison based on their immensely popular Brewday release, Le Chaleureux Rivage will be hitting taps at Golding’s on Sunday September 21st, at 2pm.

Brewer Kieran describes the beer as being dry, hoppy and spicy, with a big lemony hit from a healthy dose of Motueka hops added.

To top it off, we will be serving free range BBQ pork buns from Long Beach Waikanae.

See you then!
