The Cheesy Girl & the Yeastie Boys is a cooking class hosted by Lyall Bay cafe & cooking school Elements Cafe, in collaboration with artisan cheese-maker Wendy Adams from Cultured and our very own Stu McKinlay from Yeastie Boys.
It is a 100% hands on, 3 hour class where you will first learn how to make fresh halloumi and ricotta cheese with Wendy, and taste a selection of cheeses made with different milks.
Whether the pairing produces a harmonious or contrasted medley of flavours and textures, it's no secret among beer aficionados that a good beer and cheese match is one of those truly magical experiences. Yeastie Stu takes the second part of the class, dedicated to craft beer tasting and beer/cheese matching. Everything about that is wonderful.
Finally, Elements' head chef Scott will take you through dinner and dessert preparation - you will prepare and cook a halloumi based salad using the fresh halloumi made earlier and, of course, enjoy your dinner alongside Stu's beer matches.
By the end of the class you will have learnt how to make specialty cheese, tasted and matched craft beer with many different types of cheese, learnt how to make (and eaten) a delicious meal and dessert, and left with recipes and plenty of samples to take home.
Sounds amazing to us!
The class & dinner runs on Thursday May 31st from 6pm to 9pm and costs $99 per person.
