On top of the great green-hopped beers available around the city, some of this years Hopstock
venues will be putting on other special events during the event days to make this
an even more memorable event!

Meet the Brewer: Tracy Banner at Sprig & Fern Tavern

Where:Sprig & Fern Tavern Tinakori Road, 342 Tinakori Road Thorndon
When: Weds 18th April 4:15pm - 6:30pm

Love our beers? Want to meet the mastermind behind them? Tracey Banner, the head brewer of New Zealand's iconic Sprig & Fern brewery in Nelson will be up visiting Sprig & Fern Tavern on the first day of Hopstock (Weds 18th).

While this is a casual encounter around the taps, she'll be wearing her brewer hat for the evening - so feel free to approach her for a chat about this years batch of award winning Harvest Pilsner or any of the other great beers on offer in the Taverns.

Hopstock Colouring In With Beer Baroness

Where: Golding's Free Dive, 14 Leeds Street
When: Weds 18th - Mon 23rd April, all day

Join Beer Baroness for Hopstock at Golding's! We'll be pouring Fresh Hopped Lady Danger Red IPA. The Baroness herself, Ava will be joining us on Wednesday to pour beers with the Golding's crew!

What's more, you can colour-in to win! Sweet prizes are up for grabs in our annual Hopstock colouring-in competition! Creativity is encouraged.

Hopstock Week @ MOON

MOON in Newtown is offering an epic lineup of extra special events during Hopstock week.
There are activities, live music, and food specials specifically designed for Hopstock goers to amp up their week!


$10 Pizza Hopstock Launch
Weds 18th from 4pm

Moon's $10 pizza takes part in the Hopstock mania with a new green inspired pizza of the month to go alongside Double Vision's Dr.Green Fresh Hop IPA
Serving from 4pm until 9pm (or until we sell out) it'll be a great stop off on your Hopstock tour.
The Ayrton Foote group will be bringing the hard hitting jazz grooves from 7pm too

The Greenlight Comedy Club
Thurs 19th from 8pm

For one night only the Blacklight Comedy Club embraces the fresh hop season to become the Greenlight Comedy Club.
Hosted by the evergreen Jonny Potts and sonically supported by DJ Sci-FX we'll be bringing the freshest and most interesting comedy to Newtown.
Hopping onto the stage will be:

Ras Judah & Culture Embassy: Live!
Friday 20th from 9pm

Ras Judah and his suite of cultural ambassadors ranging from Aotearoa, South Korea, Ethiopia and beyond return to our vibrant suburb of Newtown.
The music gets underway from 9pm with DJ Lot on the decks till late afterwards
$5 entry from 8:30pm but FREE to holders of the Hopstock stamp booklet!

Lightning Boulton
Sunday 22nd from 6:30pm

With booming blues riffs and a high voltage jazz sound, Alex 'Lightning' Boulton is set to power up your Sunday evening at Moon.
Enjoy a pint of Dr.Green IPA and some pizza (10% off all day) while you wind up the weekend. Music starts rolling at 6:30!

Monday Moon Quiz: Hopstock edition
Monday 23rd 7:30pm

Finish off your Hopstock tour by testing how your brain cells have fared with our Monday Quiz.
This extra hoppy version will be full of questions about beer and brewing and there will be fresh hop beer prizes up for grabs in addition to the 1st & last place prizes.
Starts at 7:30pm, entry is $2 p/p raising money for the NZ blood cancer and lukaemia foundation

Eagle Brewing Tasting

Where: Southern Cross Garden Bar Restaurant, 39 Abel Smith Street
When: Thurs 19th April, 6:30pm

In honour of this year's Hopstock Festival, Southern Cross Garden Bar Restaurant and Eagle Brewing are teaming up to bring you an evening of beer & food matchings, with a vegan twist. 

The night will be hosted by the team from Eagle - meet director & brewer David Gaughan as he and his team take us through five favourites from their range of beers, including their Hopstock fresh hop beer, and all of which are vegan friendly. The beer tasters will be accompanied by home-made matched vegan treats from the Cross' kitchen team.

The tasting will be held in our cosy Guest Room on Thursday 19th of April, at 6.30pm.

Tayla Made Hopstock Edition

Our Burger of the Week is going the distance Southpaw Brew Co style.

The Burger itself:
House made Beef Patty, Chorizo Crouquette (Made with Half Pint Session IPA), Caramelised Red Onion (Caramelised in Redline Pinot Aged Red Ale), Smokey BBQ Sauce (Made with Uncle Charlie APA), Saurkraut, Jalapeño Mayo, Cheese,and Beetroot Relish

This will be paired up with Southpaw Brew Co fresh hop Uncle Charlie APA

Bring in your corner man and see if you can put this down for the count.

Panhead Green Fog Rooftop Takeover

Where: Basque, 8 Courtenay Place
When: Thurs 19th - Sat 21st April

For Hopstock 2018 we are turning our rooftop into a Panhead-green-swamp-foggy-monster to accompany the release of this years fresh hop release, Green Fog, a 7.5% fresh hop NEIPA.

Prepare for Green Fog, a fresh-hopped swamp monster created by Panhead for Hopstock 2018. As well as being a powerful potion to fix whatever’s putting the juju on you, Green Fog foreshadows a series of originals called Panhead Rites & Original, brews inspired by magic and root work from the fever swaps of The South!

Live music on Thursday.
Paella and Beer match + Meet The Panheads on Friday.
Prizes up for grabs on Saturday.

Hopstock Stoner Party

Where: Bebemos, 88 Riddiford St Newtown
When: Friday from 4:20pm

Hopstock is coming to Bebemos! We've got Behemoth's Cheech and Chong Fresh Hop Blazy IPA this year, and what better way to honour that than with a stoner party*?In the middle of Hopstock's week long events, we'll kick off this Friday, the 20th of the 4th, at 4:20pm. There'll be hemp incense, a munchies menu and bottomless tea, classic stoner tunes, some vintage gaming consoles and maybe even a film or two on in the background.

So throw on whatever digs you wear when you duvet-dive, enjoy a pint or two, and indulge your inner Harold & Kumar with some delicious munchie snacks.
